Adamson's plastic pledge

Our focus for this year's science week has been plastic pollution.

During our Science and DT lessons we looked at the impact plastic was having on our oceans. We saw how single-use plastic was killing animals and covering our beaches and rivers. Adamson Class have designed moving posters, using levers and linkages to persuade people to recycle and use less plastic in order to look after our planet.

In Science, we saw how almost all of the stuff we use everyday at home and school is made of plastic. We also discovered that there are different types of plastic each with different properties We created an experiment to see how the different types of plastic floated in salt water. Some plastics floated, some partially floated and a couple sank. This made us think about the difficulties of clearing up our oceans when plastic can both sink and float.

As a result of our findings, Adamson class have pledged to stop using single-use plastics and to cut down on their use of plastic.
