Castles

Castles

Darwin Class have had a great time this half term, learning all about castles and some of the Queens who have lived in them.  We have been comparing the reigns of Queen Elizabeth the First and Second, and we have learnt a little about the changes that happened whilst they ruled.  In English we have read lots of information reports about castles and how they were made and the children have produced fantastic leaflets for tourists who might come to visit our role play, 'Darwin Castle'.  We had a busy morning last week when all of the children created their own castles with moving parts which used different mechanisms.  We managed to create moving drawbridges and flags which could be pulled up and down on their poles.  Finally, today saw lots of the children bringing in fantastic home learning projects about castles and Kings and Queens.  Some children made models of castles at home whilst others chose to research and make posters about different members of the Royal Family.
